AEM-1 Versions
- The AEM-1A will emulate SMD and SMD-O disk drives, with track lengths up to 32KB and transfer rates <2MB/sec. Capacities range from 40MB to 1GB.
- The AEM-1B will emulate SMD through SMD-E disk drive, with track lengths up to 64KB and transfer rates to 3MB/sec. Capacities range up to 3.3GB.
- The AEM-1C is a fully cached version of the AEM and can be configured to emulate most standard drives. Like the 1B, the AEM-1C will emulate SMD through SMD-E disk drives, with capacities up to 2GB.
Enclosures
AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMF (fixed, internal primary device, 80 pin)AEM-1(A/B/C)/RRM (removable primary device, 80 pin) A Single Drive Emulation in a 19" Rack Mount enclosure. Supports all drive emulations and standard options. The Integrated LED Operator Panel provides the same indicators and functions as the legacy disk drive. AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMF and AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMR with 50 pin primary devices are no longer available. |
AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMAF (fixed, internal primary device, 80 pin)AEM-1(A/B/C)/RARM (removable primary device, 80 pin) A Single Drive Emulation in a 19" Rack Mount enclosure. Supports all drive emulations and standard options. The Alpha-Numeric Operator Panel provides additional functionality over the LED Panel, supporting up to 100 volumes and allowing Operator Panel control of both Backup and Restore. AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMAF and AEM-1(A/B/C)/RMAR with 50 pin primary devices are no longer available. |
AEM-1(A/B/C)/RSDM (removable primary device, 80 pin)A Single Drive Emulation in an RSD(FSD) form factor enclosure that mounts in the same shelf or slides as the original drive. Supports all RSD/FSD drive emulations and standard options. FSD drives can now be replaced with removable media, RSD like drives. The RSD enclosure uses the Integrated LED Operator Panel and comes with multi-volume support in the standard model. AEM-1(A/B/C)/RSD and AEM-1(A/B/C)/FSD with 50 pin primary devices are no longer available. |

Notes: System Models include the enclosure, an Emulator, mounting for the mandatory primary SCSI drive(s), a power supply, internal cabling and software. The primary SCSI drive and desired options are specified separately. See the Nav Menu selection for ´SCSI Devices & AEM Options´. Custom enclosures can be designed and produced to meet any reasonable Customer requirement. See the Custom Products portion of the web site for examples. |
Mounting for Primary SCSI Storage Device
The legacy disk drive image is stored on the primary SCSI storage device. AEM-1 Systems may be configured with either fixed or removable SCSI disk drives as the primary SCSI storage device. SCSI disk drives are ordered separately. For **F enclosures, the drive is fixed mounted inside the system enclosure. **RM enclosures include drive bays for removable disk drive modules. The drive bays have a key lock switch for mechanical and electrical interlock. The Customer can have the convenience of removability for security or media distribution, regardless of the construction of the original disk drive.
