ASPX-1 Versions
There is only one standard version of the ASPX-1 with no model modifier.
Enclosures
ASPX-1/TRM (removable primary device, 80 pin)A stand-alone mini tower enclosure for use outside the E&S cabinet. Usually used for transfer of backups from existing backup media to the new backup media and for media duplication. ASPX-1/TTR with a 50 pin primary device is no longer available. |
ASPX-1/RRM (removable primary device, 80 pin)The RKR retrofit kit is a form, fit replacement for the original OMTI system. Mounts into the existing OMTI enclosure, inside the E&S cabinet, using the existing power supply. ASPX-1/RKR with a 50 pin primary device is no longer available. |
|
Notes: Models include the enclosure, an OMTI Emulator, mounting for the SCSI devices, internal cabling and software. The TTR includes a power supply. The required SCSI devices are specified separately. Custom enclosures can be designed and produced to meet any reasonable Customer requirement. See the Custom Products portion of the web site for examples. |
SCSI Devices
A minimum of two SCSI devices are required to emulate an OMTI 5000 in an E&S imaging system: a hard drive and a tape drive. Both models support a removable disk drive module as the hard drive. All standard DRV models are supported.
Note: As of December 2005, 50 pin drive models (DRV-45R) have been discontinued as the 50 pin drive bays and canisters to support them are no longer available. All current ASPX models use 80 pin hard drives as primary storage devices (DRM-45R). Drives are not interchangeable. Existing AEMs may be retrofit to support the 80 pin drives. Contact your Arraid Representative for details.
The OMTI tape device can be replaced either by a DAT drive or by a magneto optical disk drive emulating a tape drive. The magneto optical drive is preferred as it offers significantly improved performance, as well as longer lived media.
A second tape drive, capable of reading the original backup media, can be added for compatibility. Usually, only one such drive is required in a facility so that all backups can be transferred to the new tape media.
Options
Standard ASPX-1 models include internal disk-to-disk and disk-to-tape backup/restore capability. Multi-volume support is also included.
An Ethernet option allows connection to a LAN for transfer of disk images between ASPXs or transfer of files from some modeling stations. This LAN is separate from and does not interfere with the E&S Ethernet.
