TES-6IP Versions

There is only one standard version of the TES-6IP with no model modifier. It is anticipated that minor changes required to emulate specific drives or interface with specific controllers will be accommodated by the standard product.

Enclosures

TES-6IP/RMC (for fixed mount, magneto optical drive)
TES-6IP/RMF (for fixed mount internal hard drive)
TES-6IP/RRM (for removable hard drive module)

A Single Drive Emulation in a 19" Rack Mount enclosure. The unit shown is an RMF with internal, fixed mounted hard drives.

The LCD Operator Panel provides local control of tape drive setup, all tape functions and indications of tape status as well as configuration of LAN/WAN access.
Notes:

System Models include the enclosure, an Emulator, a SCSI drive for system/network use, mounting for an additional SCSI device to hold the tape image, a standard AC power supply, internal cabling and software. The SCSI device for the tape image is specified separately.

Custom enclosures can be designed and produced to meet any reasonable Customer requirement. See the Custom Products portion of the web site for examples.

Tape Image SCSI Device

The legacy tape image is stored on a SCSI output device. TES-6IP Systems may be configured with either a hard drive or a magneto optical drive as this device. SCSI disk drives are ordered separately.

For RMF enclosures, the hard drive is fixed mounted inside the enclosure. This combination of enclosure and drive is preferred when the TES-6IP is used at a "remote" location, where an operator may not always be present. Any standard Arraid disk drive module can be used.

RMR enclosures include drive bays for removable disk drive modules. The drive bays have a key lock switch for mechanical and electrical interlock. Some Customers prefer the removable drive module over the fixed drive for ease of maintenance and local storage of information. Any standard Arraid removable disk drive module can be used.

For RMC enclosures, the magneto optical drive is fixed mounted in the front panel of the TES. Magneto Optical drives have proven to be an excellent choice for use in Arraid tape emulators. These drives and media have the durability to perform well for many years. This combination of controller and drive is preferred when removable media is still desired for local storage of information, such as system backups.
